Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is a sound therapy
Sound Healing is a holistic practice that taps into the therapeutic power of sound waves to promote physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It is the application of sound waves at different frequencies, applied to or around a person's body, for attuning, aligning, releasing, calming and overall healing. Through instruments like tuning forks, singing bowls, and even the human voice, sound therapy helps to balance the body, mind, and spirit.
Whether you're seeking relaxation, emotional release, or enhanced mental clarity, sound therapy offers a powerful, natural way to support your health.
Q: What is a sound bath?
In a sound bath, you hear and feel a symphony of tones from singing bowls, tuning forks, bells and other overtone emitting instruments. The experience is often called a sound bath because it literally feels like you are being bathed in sound. It is a deep, somatic listening experience that offers people a gentle way to connect to their bodies and de-stress their nervous systems.
In my sound baths, multiple crystal singing bowls are played in a therapeutic manner in order to relax the body, calm the mind, and ignite inner awareness. Participants are laying down for the experience with their eyes closed.
The tones and frequencies that are used within a sound bath activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for our rest and digestion functions and allow our minds and bodies to relax. A sound bath uses certain frequencies and tones that can assist overall well-being.
This is an unforgettable sound experience for those who seek deep relaxation, rejuvenation, and introspection. My typical Sound Baths are 60-minute sonic healing sessions that consist of:
Q: Does the Sound Bath involve getting in water?
No, the "bath" in "sound bath" refers to being immersed in sound waves and vibrations, not water. You typically lie down comfortably on a mat, often with blankets and pillows, and a practitioner plays various instruments like gongs, singing bowls, chimes, and tuning forks. The sounds "wash over" you, promoting relaxation and a meditative state.
Q: Why attend a sound bath
Sound baths are a meditative practice involving the use of resonant music. This creates an immersive sound that fills the room and the body, aiming to help people relax and let go of stress, anxiety, or other worries and concerns. People report feeling deeply relaxed after sound baths, which may have health benefits. I believe by reducing our stress and moving the sympathetic nervous system into the parasympathetic system, our bodies create an environment to self-heal.
Q: Benefits of Sound Baths And Healing with Crystal Singing Bowl
Sound baths help to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, which is the body's natural counterbalance to stress. Here's the science behind the relaxation:
The parasympathetic nervous system is responsible for the body's rest and digest functions, which sound baths help to stimulate.
As the body is exposed to the therapeutic sounds, there may be a shift from a state of alertness to one of relaxation, signaling the parasympathetic nervous system to engage.
This can result in a decrease in heart rate, a lowering of blood pressure, and a deep sense of calm throughout the body.
Participants in sound baths often report profound impacts on their well-being, spanning psychological to physiological realms. These sessions, utilizing Crystal Healing bowls and/or Tibetan Crystal Singing Bowls, are known for stress reduction, mental clarity enhancement, emotional release, and sleep improvement. The sound waves from these bowls are thought to synchronize brain wave frequencies, fostering deep relaxation and a tranquil mind, which may ease anxiety, manage stress, and support a balanced mood. Additionally, the harmonious resonance of these bowls could promote a mental reset, sharpening focus and sparking creativity.
According to recent studies (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC5871151/) some conditions believed to benefit from sound therapy include:

Q: What can I expect?
People often experience a sense of relaxation for days after a sound bath, reporting tension and pain relief as well as improved cognition, sleep and mood. It is peaceful yet powerful for mind and body.
Throughout the session, your nervous system releases tension, your brain waves naturally slow and you shift into a relaxed, lucid, dreamlike state of being.
More than anything, a restorative sound bath is an opportunity to let yourself slow down, rest and do nothing. Simply tune into the sounds around you and give yourself permission to just be there in the moment.
Everyone during a sound healing session responds differently. Some common reactions are:
Q: How do I contact you with questions?

Q: What do you do in a Sound Bath?
To get the most out of sound baths, I suggest people relax in a comfortable position (laying on the floor or a recliner, eye mask on). Then they simply listen to the sounds and stay present with what is felt during the experience. As you settle into the sound bath, deepen your experience by focusing on your breath. Taking slow, deep breaths can enhance relaxation and help you connect more deeply with the sounds. If your mind begins to wander, gently guide your focus back to the sounds and your breathing.Q: Can I take a Sound Bath if I am pregnant?

Each person will respond to the sound therapy in individual ways. For most people, they will feel wonderful after a session, but for some, they may experience what I call a healing response. This process of detoxification can look like feeling fatigued, having sore muscles, feeling waves of emotion, headaches, runny nose, sore throat, upset stomach or having flu like symptoms. These things may last from a few hours to a few days.
Remember that detoxing is the process of moving out what is no longer a vibrational match to your new frequency. Know that this is a good thing. Detoxing is the body's natural way of releasing unwanted toxins and shifting what needs to be shifted in order to heal and transform. If you do experience a detox, rest assured in a short amount of time you will feel better with a new sense of balance and harmony.
It is recommended that you drink plenty of water after a session to keep energy moving through your body. And pay close attention to your needs during this time, take a salt bath, go for a walk in nature and journal. Remember that there is a lot happening within after you receive a session. Nurture yourself physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.
Q: How often sould I come in for a session?
The benefits of sound baths are cumulative and regular sessions are highly recommended in order to receive the most benefit. If it is your first time receiving this type of work, 4 sessions about two weeks apart is highly recommended. After that, the suggested frequency of sessions will vary depending on your individual needs. A general recommendation is 1 – 2 sessions per month. If you are going through something challenging, whether mental, emotional or physical, a weekly session is suggested during that time.
